Sólo hay que presionar el disco metálico que hay en el interior y los cristales de acetato de sodio se funden ofreciendo una distribución de calor que puede llegar de 0-55° C grados en segundos, el calor dura entre 45-90 minutos, también puede ser utilizado en frío. Para volver a utilizar se debe poner en agua caliente hasta que quede totalmente líquido el interior; debe estar nuevamente frío para volver a utilizarlo. Es inholoro.
